As Linkin Park's "New Divide" was standing tall atop the Alternative Airplay charts, its companion clip debuted to record numbers, becoming the No. 1 music video debut so far this year on the MySpace Music site. The eye-popping clip, directed by Linkin Park's Joe Hahn, drew a staggering 1.8 million viewers in its first four days (cumulative views are now well over 2 million), illustrating the dominance of video consumption on MySpace Music. "New Divide" has also been the No. 1 video on MySpace each day since its launch.
"We're thrilled with the strong premiere of the 'New Divide' video," said Courtney Holt, President of MySpace Music. "It's a tribute to the incredible drawing power of Linkin Park and the impact we can have together. The premiere extends our successful track record of creating special events that resonate with music fans around the world."
To celebrate the film's opening, Linkin Park (vocalists Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda, drummer Rob Bourdon, guitarist Brad Delson, DJ Joe Hahn and bassist Dave "Phoenix" Farrell) will give a special free performance on June 22 in Los Angeles. L.A.-based radio station KROQ is staging a massive promotion to give some very lucky fans tickets to the event.
